An exhibition by South African born Carrie Tilbury, was inaugurated on Friday evening at the Cittadella Centre for Culture & Arts in Victoria.
Carrie was born in South Africa in 1957 and spent her formative years living between Mozambique and South Africa.
She recalls these years as being free spirited and joyous, enjoying both the agricultural and commercial fising environment that here parents were invovled in.
In later years the family moved to a large farm set in the magnificent Drakensberg Mountains bordering Lesotho.
With a nursing career spanning over 25 years, it has given Carrie several opportunities to work abroad, this was followed by further education to qualify as a dietician and today she continues to work privately offering her skill as a Bio Energetic practitioner combined with dietetics.
Carrie said that art has always facinated her and although she has had no formal education in painting or drawing she has always been willing to try her hand at various techniques and learn as she goes along.
Her desire is to showcase natures colour and form, often in simple design so that we can appreciate everyday things.
This is Carrie’s first exhbition which “she has approached with some trepidation, but feels that she has learned much in the process.”
Carrie gave thanks to the Cittadella Centre for Culture & Arts for their support and encouragement in achieving this goal.
Lastly, but not least, Carrie said that she is indebted to the spiritual harmony which she has found on this beautiful island of Gozo, that gave her the inspiration to continue painting.
The exhibition is open daily from 10.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday and from 11.00am to 3.00pm Saturdays and Sundays. Entrance is free.

Is the exhibition still on? I visited it whilst holidaying in Gozo and liked one of the paintings. I wondered if it was still available to purchase? I think it was called solitude.
