A delegation of around 100 Maltese people are at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the ‘2013 World Youth Day’ celebrations which got underway on the 23rd of July and will concluded tomorrow, Sunday, the 28th.
The theme this edition, “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28,19), impels the experience to live the WYD week itself.
The Maltese delegation is made up of a group of 70 who travelled to Brazil from Malta, while others were already in the country for volunteering.
This trip is being coordinated by the Kummissjoni Djocesana Zghazagh and led by Auxiliary Bishop Charles J. Scicluna.
After tonight’s prayer vigil, the Maltese youths will camp on Copacabana beach to await the Mass which will be celebrated by Pope Francis tomorrow to close the celebrations.
It is expected that around two million young Christians will attend the Mass.
