The Police have reported that a diver has been rescued after finding himself in distress at about 12.30pm this afternoon in Ras ir-Reqqa, Xwejni, limits of Zebbug, Gozo.
Preliminary investigations carried out by the Police found that the diver, aged 66, of Zebbug, was overcome by a wave which then dragged him into a cave, where he struck his head and his goggles and flippers got pulled off.
He was assisted by another man who was diving with him.
The diver was brought ashore by members of the Civil Protection Department and the Armed Forces of Malta and taken to Gozo General Hospital, where, the Police said, he refused medical assistance.
Walter Thanks God he had his friend with him ,If it happened that he was alone , he would loose his Life down there . ITS’ a Warning for those to be at the Sea alone . Never go fishing by yourself Far or close to Shore . .Accidents can happen so fast ,No one can EXPECTED ……. WHETHER YOU KNOW HOW TO SWIM , OR NOT …………………..
