The Malta Hotels & Restaurants Association (MHRA) President Tony Zahra, Vice President Kevin De Cesare and Restaurants Chairman Mathew Pace met with Tourism Minister Karmenu Vella and MTA CEO Josef Formosa Gauci to discuss progress being achieved in the industry as well as current issues particularly security and cleanliness in the Paceville area.

MHRA expressed its satisfaction with the successes in number of tourist arrivals achieved during the current summer season and augured that this will continue in the winter 2013/2014.

The meeting then went on with a discussion on the management of Paceville particularly where cleanliness and security were concerned and an action plan was agreed upon which included a larger police presence especially during the period of midnight and 5am.

It was agreed that a follow up meeting will be held to determine that the action taken has had the desired result.

Tony Zahra said that, “the meeting confirmed the excellent working relations MHRA has with the Minister and MTA and this augured extremely well for the industry since it has been proven time and again that when all stakeholders pull together success is more easily achieved.”

On his part the Minister confirmed Government’s commitment to the Tourism industry and that this industry receives constant attention to ensure its continued success which is crucial for the Maltese economy
