The Actavis LifeCycle participants left Malta this afternoon. Participants will be riding from Minsk to St. Petersburg, a total journey of 2,000km. The Parliamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sport greeted participants and their relatives at Malta International Airport before their departure, where they shared their enthusiasm for this experience.

In a brief address, Parliamentary Secretary Buontempo congratulated them for their courage and their sense of social duty, saying, “the benefits of this experience will be enjoyed not only by participants themselves in terms of a healthier lifestyle but also by those people who will be benefitting from the funds that are being collected.”

Dr Buontempo also had the opportunity to speak to their families and relatives, who shared their enthusiasm and pride that such a challenge brings.

The first edition of the LifeCycle marathon was held in 1999 and in total, 36 countries were visited. Cyclists are expected to cover 190km per day for ten days.
