Alternattiva Demokratika said in a a statement today that it fully supports the Government in its condemnation of the chemical attacks on civilians in Syria.

Prof. Arnold Cassola, Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson, said, “It is important that the international community arrives at a unitarian position vis a vis the Assad regime. China and Russia should stop undermining any progress on the issue.

“One year (and 100,000 deaths) ago, the two countries were blocking any possible international agreement. Today, 100,000 deaths later, they are still stuck in the same position. Human lives are not something to play about with.”

“Having said this, any intervention in Syria can – and should – only be carried out with a UN mandate,” Prof. Arnold Cassola concluded.
