Arriva asks for more time to respond to technical reportsArriva Malta has informed the Ministry for Transport and Infrastructure that it will need more than the 48 hours that it was to have given its response to the reports prepared by technical experts on the three bendy-buses that caught fire last month.

The Ministry said that it has been informed that an Arriva Senior Official is due to arrive in Malta next week. The Minister replied that the Government expects the company’s response as soon as possible in the coming days.

At the request of the company, the Minister has also passed a copy of another report prepared by Transport Malta on the bendy-bus incidents. The Government said that this report is independent from that which was prepared by the technical experts.

The Minister for Transport and Infrastructure reiterated that the bendy-buses will remain suspended from Maltese roads and the changes to the public transport on the affected bus routes will run as planned.

Meanwhile, the Ministry said that meetings are being held between the Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, the Minister for Education and the Chairman of Transport Malta, to ensure that should the issue have not been resolved by the time schools start, then the sevice provided for schools will be a priority..
