Despite the power cuts which plunged Gozo into darkness last night, the children of Xaghra enjoyed a great night of fun and entertainment in an event held as part of the lead up to the Xaghra Feast of the ‘Nativity of Our Lady.’The Feast day, which is celebrated annually on the 8th of September, is also a Public Holiday and is known locally as ‘Il-Festa tal-Vittorja.’

It commemorates the victory of the Maltese under the Knights of St John, over the Turks, during the Siege of 1565.
