British Airways will be returning to Malta as from next March 2014, Tourism Minister Karmenu Vella describes this announcement “as a vote of confidence in our islands.”

The Minister for Tourism said that he “has always recognised the strong link between adequate seat capacity and success within the tourism industry. It is within this context that Minister Karmenu Vella warmly welcomes the announcement today by British Airways that they will be returning to Malta as from next March.”

He stated that “this announcement is a vote of confidence in our islands by one of the world’s leading flag carriers. This will further strengthen our links with both London and beyond and should be a big help to both the leisure and the conference sectors.”

This is a result of the continuous process that the Ministry together with Malta Tourism Authority and other stakeholders is undertaking to ensure the success of such a vital industry, the Minister said.

Minister Vella thanked the Malta Tourism Authority and Malta International Airport for handling the discussions and bringing them to a successful conclusion.
