Malta recently celebrated car free day, when a number of towns and villages closed their main roads to traffic, freeing them up for families to walk about in and enjoy organised activities. However, Ghajnsielem went a step further and managed to set a new local record for the longest clothes line in the Maltese Islands. The clothes line recorded a length of 1.2km (1179 meters)!

The event was organised by the Ghajnsielem Local Council and members of the Malta Records who witnessed the event also confirmed that there were 2294 items of clothes hung around the main streets of the village using over 4000 clothes-peg.

All the clothes on the line were donated by residents of Ghajnsielm and will be packed and sent to the missionaries in Africa.
