Mrs Margaret Abela’s support towards the L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank becomes personal as she leads the party distributing piggy banks around schools in Malta and Gozo, BOV said.

Commemorating its tenth anniversary, the L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank campaign sees well over 5,000 piggy banks distributed in all schools around Malta and Gozo with the contribution it generates towards the L-Istrina growing significantly year on year.

“The driving force behind the L-Istrina Piggy Bank Campaign are the children themselves,” said Joyce Tabone Manager Media and Community Relations during a visit to Helen Keller school.

“This campaign truly encapsulates the spirit of L-Istrina. It is both a privilege and a humbling experience to see young children getting personally involved to help vulnerable individuals,”, continued Ms Tabone.”

Mrs Abela congratulated the children and their teachers who organize several initiatives during the year in a bid to raise funds towards L-Istrina. “From a very young age, children participating in this campaign learn how to put aside a little of their pocket money to make a big difference in other people’s lives,” said Mrs Abela.

Over the past nine years, Bank of Valletta presented over three quarters of a million euros towards this campaign, with the amount increasing every year since its inception. The final amount collected, along with a donation from Bank of Valletta will be presented during the live broadcast of L-Istrina on the 26th December.
