Preparations are well under way for the Flimkien ghal Ambjent Ahjar annual art exhibition. FAA said that the proceeds from this fund-raising activity will go towards the restoration of a unique four-panel painting depicting The Virgin of Mercy and Saints dating to the Medieval period, to ensure that this work of art will be enjoyed by future generations.

There will be exhibits by: Andrew Diacono, John Grima, Harry Mallia, Caroline Said Lawrence, Sina Micallef and Walter Vella

Following last year’s very successful art exhibition, Flimkien ghal Ambjent Ahjar will once again be holding the Annual Art Exhibition at the same venue, The Italian Cultural Institute in Valletta.

The Italian Cultural Institute in St. George’s Square, the heart of Valletta, was built in 1602 by Grand Master Alof de Wignacourt to serve as the armoury of the Knights. It assumed the name of ‘Chancellery of the Order’ when the archives of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta were transferred to this armoury.

Its hall is utilized for the projection of films, lectures and exhibitions. It is particularly renowned for its ceiling fresco, the work of Niccolo’ Nasoni, a painter from Siena, who lived in Malta between 1723 and 1725. It also hosts a library which contains around 10,150 books and 1,659 video cassettes, DVDs and CDs.

This venue provides a central accessible location, right in the heart of Valletta.

The exhibition will be open to the public from the 23rd of November to the 6th December 2013.
