Industrial producer price index in October edged up by 0.01 per cent – NSO

Provisional data indicate that the industrial producer price index in October edged up by 0.01 per cent, the National Statistics Office reported today.
Prices increased by 0.04 per cent within intermediate goods, but decreased by 0.02 per cent in capital goods and by 0.03 per cent in consumer goods.
Prices within the domestic market went down by 0.05 per cent, on account of a decrease in intermediate goods (0.18 per cent) and consumer goods (0.02 per cent).
Prices for the non-domestic sector went up by 0.05 per cent as a result of an increase in intermediate goods by 0.11 per cent, which was offset by decreases of 0.03 per cent and 0.04 per cent within capital and consumer goods respectively.
Producer prices in respect of goods destined for the euro area rose by 0.04 per cent, due to an increase of 0.1 per cent in intermediate goods, and mitigated by a decrease of 0.01 per cent within capital goods.
With regards to the non-euro area, prices increased by 0.05 per cent on account of a 0.12 per cent rise in intermediate goods. On the other hand, capital and consumer goods declined by 0.08 and 0.07 per cent respectively.
Compared to October last year, the producer price index decreased from 101.72 to 97.20 points, or by 4.45 per cent. This resulted from price declines in intermediate goods (-8.74 per cent) and consumer goods (-1.42 per cent). However, capital goods, increased by 0.03 per cent. No price change was registered for energy.
Producer prices for the domestic market increased by 0.05 per cent. Consumer goods increased by 1.93 per cent. Mitigating this increase were drops in prices within intermediate goods (1.76 per cent) and capital goods (0.89 per cent).
Non-domestic prices dropped by 7.50 per cent, as both the euro and non-euro area registered a drop in prices of 2.64 and 10.12 per cent respectively.
