Children from two schools in Gozo will be particpating in next Wednesday’s Annual Schools’ Cross County Competition, being organised by the Malta Amateur Athletic Association in an effort.to encourage children who like to run and compete.

To date, confirmed participants from Gozo include nine youngsters from Qala Primary and a team of boys from the Gozo College Boys’ Secondary Victoria, who will all be travelling to Marsa to take part.

The Cross Country Competition will be held on the grass area around the Marsa Athletic Track.

The programme of events will be:

10:00am Primary School born: 2003 race distance – 1 kilometre

10: 20am Cadets Girls born: 2001, 2002 race distance – 2 kilometres

10:45am Cadets Boys born: 2001, 2002 race distance – 2 kilometres

11:10am Youths Girls born: 1999, 2000 race distance – 2 kilometres

11:35am Youths Boys born: 1999, 2000 race distance – 3.5 kilometres.

The Start and Finish of the MAAA Cross Country Competition will take place in the grass area within the Matthew Micallef St John Athletics Track.

There will be prizes for the first three runners in each race (boys and girls) together with prizes for the first three teams in each of the four races.
