‘Archaeology of Gozo – Personal experiences of Dr David Trump,’ is the title of the next lecture being organised by Wirt Ghawdex, and which will be delivered by the world renowned archaeologist, Dr David Trump.

This lecture will also be accompanied by a photographic presentation by Daniel Cilia, another very well known expert in his field.

Dr. Trump has been involved in the local archaeological scene for decades. He first visited Malta in 1954 to assist John Evans with excavations at Ggantija. From 1958 to 1963 he was Curator of Archaeology at the National Museum of Malta and also excavated on a number of sites including Skorba.

After he returned to Cambridge, he kept visiting Malta regularly, usually leading groups of archaeological students. From 1986 to 1994 he dug with the team which excavated the Xaghra Circle.

Since retirement from his teaching post at Cambridge, he has continued his research in Malta and has published various articles and books relating to the subject.

In 2004 Dr. Trump was appointed Honorary Officer of The National Order of Merit of the Republic of Malta.

The lecture is taking place this coming Thursday, the 19th of December at the Santa Cecilia Chapel, Ghajnsielem, starting at 6.30pm.
