The Wild Birds Regulation Unit has said that all licensed hunters and trappers holding the recently expired Carnet de Chasse booklets for 2013-2014, are to return their booklets to Maltapost branches between Saturday, the 1st of February and Thursday, the 13th of February 2014 (both days inclusive) during branch opening hours.
The WBRU said that holders of Carnet de Chasse booklets are to present their ID cards to Maltapost staff. Persons returning Carnet de Chasse on behalf of license holders who are unable to return the booklets in person should present the ID card of the license holder and ID card of the person effecting the return.
“License holders are kindly reminded that the return of Carnet de Chasse booklets is a legal obligation. By virtue of Schedule VIII of the above Regulations, failure to return Carnet de Chasse within the stipulated time (by 13th February) will incur an automatic fine of €50, which fine shall be increased by €20 for every week of non-return up to a maximum of €300. Licenses shall not be renewed unless Carnet de Chasse is duly handed over and any outstanding fines have been paid.”
Persons who have misplaced their booklets should report this to the Wild Birds Regulation Unit, at Casa Leoni, St Joseph High Road, Sta Venera (opposite of Umberto Colosso school) during office hours on the same dates as above (by 13th February).
Following the collection of the expired 2013/14 Carnet de Chasse booklets, the Wild Birds Regulation Unit will distribute the new 2014/15 Carnet de Chasse booklets.
Any questions in relation to the above should be directed to the Wild Birds Regulation Unit via email wildbirds@gov.mt, by telephone on 23886214 or in person at the WBRU office at Casa Leoni, St Joseph High Road, Sta Venera (opposite of Umberto Colosso school).
