Prime Minister, Dr Joseph Muscat announced this evening that the Minister for Social Solidarity, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, is to be Malta’s ninth President.
The Prime Minister gave details of her appoinment at a press conference held at the Castille. Dr Muscat said that the President will be responsible for the amendments to the Constitution and that the President will not be just a ceremonial role, she will be our point of reference.”Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca will be carrying on and building on the work of the outgoing President George Abela.”
Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca will be the youngest President to hold office when she takes over in April, as President George Ablea’s term expires.
