There have been 68 new Covid-19 cases recorded in the past 24-hours, and 53 recoveries, with Health Authorities saying that today’s cases “are still being investigated.”

There are now 536 active cases, making it 3,442 cases in total, 2,865 have recovered and there have been 41 deaths, the Ministry said.

From yesterday’s 47 cases, authorities said that 12 were family members of previously known cases, 1 was a direct contacts of previously known case, 8 were contacts of positive work colleagues and 12 cases were from social gatherings with other positive cases. Details were not given for the other outstanding 14 cases.

There were 2,497 swab tests taken, with 270,088 having been taken since the start.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control – is showing for Malta that the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000, is 113.3 with the number of cases showing as 3,374 and 40 deaths. Malta and Denmark are in joint thirteenth position in the EU/EEA and UK. Czechia is at the top with 346.1.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
