Last Sunday Heritage Malta organised a tour, entitled Gozo: The Land and its Archaeology. The event was fully booked and the large group enjoyed a varied and enjoyable visit to some of the historical sites of Gozo, as well as taste some of its local fare.

First stop was the Ta’ Mena Estate in Xaghra, which is a working farm, where the group were treated to delicacies produced on the estate.

This was followed by a visit to the Xaghra Stone Circle, generally closed to the public, where Prof. Malone and Dr Stoddart, co-directors of the excavations at the Xaghra Circle from 1987-1994, gave a vivid account of what was discovered at the Xaghra Circle and what the remains tell us about the people who buried their dead there.

The final stop for the group was at the Ggantija Interpretation Centre and Temples where they were provided with a tour by the curator, Daphne Caruana.
