The Prime Minister Dr Joseph Muscat is continuing with his convalescence after he was admitted to hospital on Sunday evening suffering from acute pain in both eyes, the Department of Information said in a statement today.
The DOI said that of the 60 people who were treated for similar eye injuries after attending the political activity in Zurrieq, it appears that the Prime Minister had been the worst affected, as he was the one most exposed to whatever had caused the condition.
For 24 hours the Prime Minister suffered from a temporary blindness. However, by yesterday evening his vision started to return to normal, the statement said.
Dr Muscat has been advised not to return to work immediately and to only expose himself to light a little at a time, to allow gradual healing.
