Update: Alternattiva Demokratika has said in a statement today that David Camilleri, activist and AD candidate for Gozo in the last General Election, “was first insulted and then assaulted in Nadur on Friday night by two young hunters from Qala.”
“After having been insulted, Camilleri was punched in the stomach by one of the two youngsters. When Camilleri tried to defend himself, the second youngster pounced on to him too and the two proceeded to beat him up,” the AD statement said.
AD added that “Camilleri had to go to the Gozo hospital to be treated for the slight injuries sustained. A report has been lodged with the police in Nadur.”
Update: AD expresses its solidarity with David Camilleri and Chris Packham
Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson, Prof. Arnold Cassola, said on Saturday evening, “we would like to express our solidarity with David Camilleri and Chris Packham who, in different circumstances, have fallen victims to intolerance and violence.”
“Everybody should be allowed to express freely their opinion for or against spring hunting, but threats and intolerant behaviour are simply not on. The quicker one learns this, the better,” Prof Cassola concluded.

Let us hope these thugs are brought to book.
