During a visit at the Gozo General Hospital, Parliamentary Secretary for Health Chris Fearne acknowledged the efforts offered by the Friends of the Sick and Elderly in Gozo aimed at supplementing the Government’s effort to keep the hospital in better shape, for the benefit of the patient.

Mr. Fearne remarked that the increase in the number of patients using the services offered by FSEG in the community, (from 56 people in 2012 to 117 people in 2013 and 125 till people May 2014), is a clear indication of the dedication of this voluntary organisation to assist the sick and the elderly in Gozo.

Mr. Fearne thanked the organisation for their donations to the Gozo General Hospital which included wheelchairs for Casualty and Outpatients, Obstetric Dopplers to the Maternity Unit, toys and games for children in hospitals, an aquarium for the outpatient waiting room and folding beds for mothers staying overnight with their sick children.

The Friends of the Sick and Elderly in Gozo/Hbieb tal-Morda u ta’ l-Anzjani Ghawdex, have been active since 1988 and since then has been have been lending special equipment to chronically sick and elderly persons being cared for by their family in their own homes.
