The Parliamentary Secretary for Rights of Persons with Disability and Active Ageing, Justyne Caruana, presented a proposal during Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting held in Gozo, to continue the implementation of an electoral pledge to work on residences for persons with disability, which was given priority during these last few weeks by the Parliamentary Secretariat.

Justyne Caruana’s proposal was about a residence for persons with disability in Gozo, which will be the first of its type in Gozo.

Cabinet yesterday approved this proposal and so, in the coming days, a call for interest will be released for adapted properties, in line with criteria determined in the same expression of interest.

“The Government is committed in implementing its electoral pledge to give peace of mind to parents of persons with disability even in Gozo. This is the fourth time in the past few days that the Government, through the Parliamentary Secretariat for the Rights of Persons with Disability and Active Ageing, which is managed by Justyne Caruana, has a new initiative in the residential and independent living field for persons with disability,” the Government said.

“In the meantime, processes have started for a call for work to be done on the first residence for persons with disability in Siggiewi, which residence is planned to host its first residents by the end of the year. There are also a series of properties which are being evaluated through architects.”

“This is a Government that delivers. For this Government, persons with disability deserve the best,” the Government said.
