Maltco donates €50,000 to the Responsible Gaming Fund

Maltco Lotteries celebrated its 10th anniversary, by hosting Jose’ Herrera, in his first official visit to the company since his new appointment as Parliamentary Secretary for Competitiveness and Growth.

The Parliamentary Secretary was introduced to Maltco’s Directors and staff and was given a detailed explanation, on how the company operates. Dr Ioannis Katakis, C.E.O of Maltco Lotteries explained that the company has gone through very big changes throughout the years.

“The good thing about Maltco Lotteries is that we are never reluctant to take new challenges, we take them and we succeed”, commented Katakis. He said that over the past years the company has invested more than 70 million in its operations, thus offering its players a state of the art technology, legal gaming and a pleasant environment where players can play responsibly.

Dr. Herrera said that the Government is committed to bring further developments by seeking more markets to increase the potential of the gaming industry.

“We are very supportive of entrepreneurs who invest through innovation, as Maltco did over the years,” commented Herrera.

Dr Katakis said that 10 years ago the company started off with 180 shops and today it operates more than 260 shops. “This generates more business opportunities and the creation of more jobs,” said Katakis.

During the event, Maltco Lotteries presented the €50,000 contribution to Dr Herrera which will be administered by the Responsible Gaming Foundation. So far the company has already presented €100,000 to this fund. Dr Katakis said that Responsible Gaming is a very important subject and thus the company handles this subject with diligence.

Present to the event was also Mr Joseph Cuschieri, Chairman of the Lotteries and Gaming Authority and Mr Silvio Schembri, Chairman of the Responsible Gaming Foundation.
