BirdLife Malta is offering the opportunity for young people aged 9-12 years old to experience what it is like to be a warden at a nature reserve.

Taking place on Saturday, the 13th of September, children have the opportunity to work alongside BLM’s expert wardens, taking part in conservation work at its Ghadira Nature Reserve at Ghadira Bay, Mellieha.

They will get involved with clearing vegetation, potting seedlings, taking measurements of environmental conditions, and recording plants and animals seen throughout the morning.

The activity, which gets underway at 8.00am, will also include snacks and a reward for participation. BLM advises that sturdy shoes and suitable clothing are necessary.

BLM said that this activity is a “unique opportunity and is ideal for any nature-loving children, who enjoy spending time outdoors and being active.”

The cost is €10, places are limited and it is essential to make a booking: please contact the BirdLife Malta office on events@birdlifemalta.org

Please note, parents are welcome to attend and wait in the visitors centre during the event, or to drop their child off and pick them up afterwards, BirdLife said.
