‘Il-Hajja Sabiha’ a mosaic mural, has just been installed in the foyer of Tal-Ibragg Hospital in Victoria. It is the handiwork of some twenty members of the psychiatric support group Step Ahead, which is led by Pauline Camilleri, Jeanette Falzon and Marlene Cauchi.

Mosaic artist, Mary Portelli, guided the group in making the 4.3 metre long mural. The scene depicts items which evoke a sense of well-being for these members and took 7 months to complete.

The project was primarily aimed at promoting social inclusion, empowering life skills through collaboration, decision making, reaching common goals, life long learning, openness to new ideas and willingness to learn.

Seen in the photo are Pauline Camilleri, Marlene Cauchi and Mary Portelli explaining the process to Gozo General Hospital CEO, Dr Nadine Delilcata.

This project was supported by the Ministry for Finance, the Malta Community Chest Fund and Bank of Valletta.
