Gozo Live Book Fair programme of events continues on FridayAfter the success of its opening day, the Gozo Live 3-day annual Book Fair continues with another full programme of events on Friday.

The Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo, officially opened the Fair yesterday and was also able to view the work carried out at the school in order to introduce the Year 7 co-education.

The Fair is being held in collaboration with Gozo College and is being held in the Girls Secondary School, situated next to Arkadia in Victoria.

There will be readings in the mornings and visitors will also find a a great selection of books on sale from children’s stories to novels to non- fiction books, in both English and Maltese.

These publications are added to by the exhibitors who will be providing a wide range of interesting reading material guaranteed to suit all tastes.

Entrance is free of charge and the Fair will be open on Friday, between 9.30am and 2.00pm and then again from 4.00pm until 7.00pm. On Saturday the fair will be open between 8.30am and 4.00pm.

The Programme of events for Friday, is as follows:

10.00am – 10.30am

Pre-publication: Ir-Re tal-Gungla u s-Skiet Misterjuz by Therese Pace, written to address fear in children.

Reading from The Adventures of Joe Fenek by Graham Bayes. .

10.30am – 11.00am

Reading by IREAD

11.00am – 11.30am

Reading from Kumewawa: L-Iben tal-Gungla by Karmenu Mallia.

12.00pm – 12.30pm

Reading from Ricasoli Soldier by Joe Scicluna.

1.00pm – 1.30pm

Reading from The Legend of Amanda Robins by Corinne Annette Zahra.

1.30pm – 1.50pm

Reading from Meaulnes it-Twil written by Paul Zahra.

4.00pm

Compère introduction (2 mins)

The official launching of the three English language books and one Maltese by the Author (2 mins)

Few words regarding the Maltese books; (9 mins)

A dance by a 5th. Class primary school girl, who is a future ballerina (3 mins) (this also happens to be the niece of Anton Saliba, the author)

Few words by Ms. Irene Campbell (?) regarding the first two launched books (9 mins)

Few words by Mr. Carmel Camilleri, the designer of the pictures of two books that are being launched. (4 mins)

A dance by a Form 3 student, who is also a future ballerina (3 mins) (this also happens to be the niece of Anton Saliba, the author)

Few words regarding the other launched book (From Dawn To Twilight For Eternity; (9 mins)

Few words by the printer explaining briefly the technic of printing a book. (4 mins) A dance by is-Sinnet Folk Group (?) (5 mins) (The founder of this group is Anton Saliba, the author)

Conclusion by Mr Philip Vella, the Mayor of Sannat. (4 mins)

As it happens, it will also be the authors birthday, he will be cutting his birthday cake. Hopefully there will be enough slices for everyone!
