The MUT has announced that it will be holding a conference on the topic of “Issues and Ethical Implications for Educators Working with Minors,” which, the Union said, is a “very important current topic that needs to be discussed further, so that a solution is found for the benefit of all educators, minors, parents and ultimately all society.”

Speakers will include MUT officials and representatives of the Directorates, the Ministry and other important stakeholders.

This conference will be held on Saturday, the 29th of November, between 8.30am and 4pm at the New Dolmen Resort Hotel, Bugibba.

Apart from MUT Officials, which will include a presentation of the findings of a survey currently being held with MUT members on the topic, the conference will include:

– the political aspect with interventions by the Minister for Education and Employment Evarist Bartolo, the Shadow Minister for Education Dr. Joseph Cassar, Mr. Desmond Zammit Marmara from Fondazzjoni Ideat (PL) and Dr. Stefano Zammit from the PN Education Committee;

– the legal and enforcement perspectives with Dr. Michael Tanti Dougall on behalf of MUT, Dr. Charmaine Cristiano Grech on behalf of the Ministry and a representative of the Malta Police Force;

– the professional perspective with an intervention by the Chairperson of the Council for the Teaching Profession Dr. Mateja Farrugia;

– the management perspective with a panel of speakers composed of various high profile professionals from State, Church and Independent schools.

– the child’s and family’s perspective, with interventions from the Commissioner for Children Ms. Helen D’Amato and Lisa Foundation CEO Mr. Tonio Pace.

Places are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and the registration fee, which includes coffee breaks and lunch is €30 for members and €40 for non-members.
