‘Re-creating by re-using’ was the theme of an event organised by Eco-Gozo on the occasion of the European Week for Waste Reduction taking place this week.

Gozitan mosaic artist Mary Portelli had the opportunity to give a demonstration on how to transform broken mugs and plates into mosaic pictures and other items. She also displayed several mosaic works to better illustrate the idea of ‘re-creating by re-using.’The session also included a talk by Ms Hilda Grech who explained how to turn old jeans into fashion items. Chef Jesmond Borg gave tips on how to store and use food leftovers, while Mr Tony Zarb from the agriculture sector explained how to turn kitchen waste into very useful compost.
