L-Istrina events get underway here in Gozo this coming weekend. Last month President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, announced that this annual event will be held for the first time on the sister island.

The activities in aid of the Community Chest Fund are taking place on Saturday and Sunday, the 20th and 21st of December, and the President will visit the events in different localities across the island.

Istrina Gozo events will get underway with a Mass in Ghajnsielem on Saturday, the 20th of December, with the participation of hospital patients and day care centre members.

The President will then visit Qala, Nadur, Xewkija and Sannat. On Sunday, she will visit Zebbug, Ghasri, Kercem, Fontana and San Lawrenz.

A number of activities will be held in the parish squares of the locations, and residents will be collecting donations.

The 2-day Gozo event will be concluded in Victoria.
