The Gozo University Group has voiced its concern, over what it describes as the, “lack of concrete action being taken on the project for a fast ferry service,” particularly, it GUG said, “in light of recent references by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat on the accessibility between Gozo and Malta, including a fast ferry.”
GUG added, that it greatly favours a fast ferry service that would take passengers directly from Mgarr to Valletta, therefore saving time for the students and the workers, who mostly study and work in that area.
“Although, as stated by the Prime Minister, the studies are ongoing and have been for a while now, the GUG believes that a fast ferry service should start as soon as possible as the island is continuously facing a brain drain.”
The Gozo University Group said that it is also looking forward to seeing progress in the feasibility study of the second fibre optic cable between the islands, as the cable would result in an increase in job creation and entrepreneurship in Gozo.
