The Ministry for Education and Employment has announced the launch of the Malta Arts Scholarships Scheme.

The scholarships are aimed at those who wish to further their studies in this field. This initiative further strengthens the Government’s commitment towards professionalising the creative sector and tallies with ongoing efforts by the Ministry responsible for culture to amplify the range of overseas openings available to local artists.

The scheme provides more opportunities to support individuals who are exceptionally talented in the promotion of professional performance specialisation in the arts, theatre, music, dance, design, creative writing, film and the visual arts.

To date 56 students have already benefited under this scheme, whilst regulations are being revised to make it possible for those who have already started their studies to become eligible.

For the first time the scheme is going to be made available for those who wish to pursue their studies also on part time basis or by distance learning, and for those who are studying at MQF level 5 or beyond at local recognised tuition centres.
