The second edition of the NSTF Science Days in Gozo proved to be another success. Over 800 students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in this unique science outreach campaign.

With exhibitions of the students’ science projects, interactive sessions with both local and foreign science communicators and hands-on experiments, the NSTF Science Days has fast-established itself as the science event in Gozo.

These three days of science outreach came to a close on Wednesday evening with the Awards Night where a number of students were awarded for their work.

In addressing the students, Mr Francis Stivala, NSTF Secretary-General, praised them for their efforts in making the second edition such a success. Congratulating the over 280 participants in the various programmes.

Mr Stivala said that through such programmes NSTF was exposing the importance of science in a fun and educational way. Whilst thanking the Ministry for Gozo for its continuous support, without which the second edition of the NSTF Science Days in Gozo would not have been possible, he also added that NSTF was committed to continue with its programmes in Gozo,

The Minister for Gozo, Dr Anton Refalo praised NSTF for its pioneering role in non-formal education, particularly in the science subjects. He also thanked NSTF for bringing these science programmes and events to Gozo.

Minister Refalo also encouraged the students to continue participating in these initiatives that complement classroom teaching and further kindle youth’s interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, which may develop into prospective careers in these bright minds’ futures.

Minister Refalo also presented a number of awards to the winners of the different contests NSTF organised in Gozo during the year.
