The Government has said that it welcomes the agreement announced by the negotiating parties in Lausanne, Switzerland, on the framework agreement on Iran’s nuclear activities.
“This is a highly encouraging result following months of intensive and difficult negotiations by the European Union, France, Germany, the United States of America, the People’s Republic of China, the Russian Federation and the United Kingdom (EU 3+3) and the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
The Government said that this framework agreement on Iran’s nuclear activities presents a unique opportunity agreed at a high level by all the parties to achieve a lasting agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and we look forward to the end of the process in June. This bodes well for reaching a more detailed and binding final draft.
Following this announcement, Minister for Foreign Affairs, George W. Vella extended his appreciation of the hard work put in by all parties and expressed the hope that this agreement will serve to lessen tensions in the Middle East region and beyond.
