A ceremony to commemorate the Sette Giugno 1919 riots, is taking place next month, organised by the National and Regional Celebrations Committee within the Ministry for Gozo, in collaboration with the Xaghra Local Council and the Xaghra Historical Reenactment Organisation.

One the victims during these riots was Guzeppi Bajada, who was born in Xaghra.

This commemorative ceremony will take place on Sunday, the 7th of June, with this programme:

5.00pm: Memorial mass at the Nativity of Our Lady Basilica, Xaghra.

5.45pm: Reenactment in Victory Square by the Xaghra Historical Re-enactment Organisation.

6.15pm: Commemorative ceremony including the laying of wreaths in front of Guzeppi Bajada’s monument in the lower part of Bullara Street.
