Fiori D’Argenta 5th edition underway at St John the Baptist Square, Xewkija

Fiori D’Argenta 5th edition got underway this morning in Xewkija, and continues on Sunday, with a variety of activities for all the family.
This festival of culture, history, drama and traditions, is organised by the Xewkija Local Council and the spectacular entertainment will be taking place in St John the Baptist Square, as well as the surrounding areas.
This morning various fund raising activities took place in aid of Puttinu Cares, including, a car wash, and hair cuts among others. These events attracted a large number of people of all ages, particularly the very young, who helped with the car washing!
There is a train ride around Xewkija early this evening, complete with tour guide who will provide information on the place of interest in the area. This will be followed at 8.30pm with the entertainment by local talent, a light show which will include a feature about the 170th anniversary of the arrival of the statue of St John the Baptist in Xewkija.
Finally the largest traditional ‘Torta tal-Bajtar ta’ San Gwann’ will also be baked, with a chance for everyone to have a free taste and enjoy the finished result on Sunday.
On Sunday, starting at 9.00am there will be Gioci Senza Frontieri – Its a Knockout, local talent, children’s entertainment and Hands on Crafts for children.
The historical sites open on Sunday, will be the Rotunda Church and the Museum of Sculpture, between 9.30am and 11.30am.
The Xewkija Local Council invites everyone to attend this popular, annual weekend event.
