Visitors to Xlendi will be able to enjoy ‘Il-Fjakkolata tax-Xlendi,’ which is taking place every Saturday evening from now until the 19th of September, organised by the Xlendi Administrative Committee.

This very special event, which is taking place as part of the Xlendi Summer Events 2015, revives an almost forgotten tradition as the rugged coastline and bay of Xlendi is illuminated with torchlight fires to commemorate the liturgical feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the Patron Saint of Xlendi.

The Committee said that everyone is invited to help and add their own torchlights or candles on balconies roofs and terraces. A little hint for balconies, large citronella candles also work perfectly, help keep the mosquitoes away and smell pleasant too!

The evenings of torchlight fires will take place from sunset onwards.
