Any reports of abuse will not be tolerated, says Ministry for GozoThe Ministry for Gozo has said in a statement today, that following information received on the alleged abuse of the system for purchasing tickets for Gozo Channel, the Ministry took the necessary steps and reported it to the competent authorities.

The Ministry said that as a result of this action some people involved have already appeared in Court.

Both the Gozo Channel workers who appeared in Court this morning have been suspended from their jobs, the Ministry said.

The Ministry for Gozo concluded that it will not tolerate any abuse such as this within the company. “The immediate steps taken on this case is evidence of how seriously the Government responds to reports of abuse.”

Earlier today two men were granted bail in the Gozo court after pleading not guilty to fraud. The pair named as Raymond Borg, known as ix-Xitan and George Zammit, had been caught on CCTV allegedly recycling Gozo Channel ferry tickets.
