President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca has announced that as from next year only registered NGOs will be benefit from funds from the Malta Community Chest Fund.
At a news conference this morning she announced the 38 NGOs that had been selected during the second call of the Voluntary Organisations Fund for the Malta Community Chest Fund.
After a rigorous process of evaluation and review, 38 charities will be benefiting from financial assistance intended to help them carry out their social projects.
During a speech given by the President she announced that in accordance with the Bishops of Malta and Gozo, this year will be the last time the Fund for Voluntary Organisations will accept applications from non-registered NGOs
“Church organisations do a great job in the social community for Maltese and Gozitans, and therefore in accordance with Archbishop Mgr. Charles Scicluna and Gozo Bishop Mario Grech, the Church organisations are being encouraged to register their NGOs.”
The President explained that her office had worked hard to ensure that the process is the most accountable and transparent in the distribution of funds.
