Alternattiva Demokratika – The Green Party has welcomed the Government’s decision to opt.out from cultivating EU approved GMOs.

“AD’s consistent position against GMO cultivation included calling upon the Maltese government to join other EU member states and avail itself from an opt out clause to cultivate EU approved GMOs. The latest news relating to Malta’s decision to follow suite and opt out from GMOs cultivation is of great satisfaction.” said Simon Galea – Spokesperson Animal Welfare & Agriculture.

“Ideally GMOs cultivation should be banned all over the EU but following present circumstances we believe that the Maltese Government took the right decision by proclaiming Malta as a GMO free territory,” he concluded.
