A new book, intended for primary school students, has been published by the Office of the Commissioner for Animal Welfare, aiming at creating more awareness about animal rights among students from a very young age.
Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights, Roderick Galdes, in a ceremony this morning, lauded this initiative and said that the Government’s vision in this sphere was to continue increasing awareness about animal rights from a very young age, opting for a proactive approach through regular educational initiatives.
The Commissioner for Animal Welfare Emanuel Buhagiar, author of the book, said that he has long felt that certain information to young students was missing or not easily accessible and said he hoped such a publication would address this shortcoming.
The book, written in Maltese, will be gradually distributed to every primary school in Gozo and Malta.
