Santa Lucija Festival of Lights and Symphony of Lights in Gozo

The traditional and spectacular illumination of candles and flaming torches – A ‘Fjakkolata’ – is taking place in Gozo, in the area around Santa Lucija, this coming Sunday, the 11th of October, in celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Fatima, which falls on the 13th.
As the sun sets, Ghar Ilma Hill will be lit up in a spectacular fashion with hundreds of flaming lanterns. A unique moment to inspire everyone against the beautiful backdrop of the Gozitan countryside surrounding the heart of the quaint village of Santa Lucija, Gozo.
This candlelight event attracts visitors from all over this island and has been taking place in the village for over 30 years in celebration of the feast.
Whilst enjoying this spectacular scene from St. Lucija Square, visitors will also be able to enjoy Gozitan folk dance with the Astra Folk Group and traditional Gozo fitira.
Everyone is welcome and the torches will start being lit from 6.30pm onwards, on Ghar Ilma Hill.Then later in the month, again in the village square of Santa Lucija, the Symphony of Lights will be celebrated.
The Gozo Youth Wind Band & Orchestra will feature at the Santa Lucija Symphony of Lights, on Friday, the 23rd of October, starting at 8.30pm.
This also promises to be a very special and spectacular evening, to which everyone is invited to attend.
