Year 1 and 2 classes of Gozo College Kercem Primary, recently participated in a trekking activity organised by the Gozo College. With the perfect weather, the children were eager to go out for a walk and have the opportunity to observe the environment around them.
The activity teachers led the to St Lucy’s Church in Santa Lucija, where Rev. Francis Sultana was waiting with a warm welcome for everyone. He talked to the children about the feast of St. Lucy and invited them to admire the beauty of the church from inside
Following a lunch break the group made there way to the cattle farm. Mrs. Miralda Grech greeted the students and teachers, and first of all showed them the calves, which the children really enjoyed! The tour then moved on to the milking parlour, where Mrs Grech explained to the children the process and work involved in milking the cows.
The children were also shown the large herd of cows, as well as the bull. The school said that the children really enjoyed it the visit, some of them had never visited a farm before.
The group then took a walk back through the countryside to the school, where they were keen to spread the word among the other students about the wonderful, interesting day they had experienced.
Gozo College Kercem Primary and Gozo College said that they would like to thank all those involved for giving the children such an opportunity. “Thank you and keep it up!”
