The Aurora Theatre said that it is proud to present << il-Hajja xejn Cool ta’ teenager jismu Julian>> – The not so cool life of a teenager named Julian, a play in Maltese, written by Simone Spiteri.

Written for and first-produced during the Ziguzajg Children’s Festival in 2013, << Julian >> will be transported to Gozo’s Aurora, under the artistic direction of Jean-Marc Cafá, as an Aurora Youth Movement co-production.

Julian is an intelligent but highly mischievous 14-year old boy. His life is a total disaster and absolutely not cool at all. He is performing poorly at school and he is dying to form part of a cool clan at school but his efforts prove futile.

To make matters worse, his parents have recently separated. But Julian has a very big craze for a certain no-fear, courageous and intelligent fictional character – Justin Artio. In other words, he would like to be someone whom he actually is not. Matters get even more complicated when his mother starts seeing someone else, the cool clan at school starts noticing him and his O-Levels are round the corner. Julian has to take critical decisions…

But which decisions? How? And more importantly, what would Justin Artio would have done?

The production successfully ran in Malta at the St James’ Cavalier to critical acclaim.
