Police have advised that many young people were were injured in an incident that took place at a premises in St George's Street St. Julian's.

Early investigations by the St Julian's Police show that a glass banister collapsed and consequently the persons ended up on the staircase of another building.

It has been reported that groups of people were trying to get out of the nightclub after a fight broke out inside.

The Police said that several ambulances together with members from the Civil Protection Department were called on site to assist the victims.

The persons that were hospitalised are aged between 13 and 25 years. The details of their medical conditions are still being established.

A 13-year-old girl a 15-year-old girl. have been certified as being in critical condition.

A Magisterial Inquiry was appointed into the case.

Police investigations are still underway.

This morning concerns over the incident, relating to security in the club, the age of those involved and security in Paceville itself, have been voiced by the Government and by the Opposition.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said that he was angered and concerned that so many "children," were there, when their are clear laws. "The government will take all necessary measures to ensure that this sort of thing doesn't happen again."
