This week Ian Lansley, the expert tree pruner, was in Malta to hold sessions with local councils and the Committee of the South organised by Flimkien ghal Ambjent Ahjar (FAA).

During his stay Ian Lansley and his team held a demonstration in high-level tree-pruning at San Anton organised by the ELC with the kind permission of the Malta Embellishment and Landscaping Project (MELP), which manages San Anton Gardens.

Present for the demonstration were members of ELC management and tree care staff. During his stay, Ian Lansley also gave tree advice to Qrendi and Attard Local Councils, while volunteering tree pruning work at Villa Frere in Gwardamangia.

FAA welcomed ELC's and the Local Councils' positive approach, stating that "as Government issued the Pesticides Act, which stipulates "that pesticides can only be purchased and applied by persons with the necessary training, the same needs to be done for tree pruning, which should only be in the hands of qualified personnel, in order to protect Malta's trees which are essential for residents' health."

Ian Lansley is due back in Malta shortly, so anyone in Gozo and Malta requiring his services, especially on municipal trees, can contact FAA on contact@faa.org.mt.

Ian Lansely is a professional consultant arborist and international lecturer on forestry, arboriculture and ecology. In his role as tree care manager, properties falling under his management include Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, Marlborough House, Hampton Court and the Tower Of London.
