In the first half of next year, the Malta Police Force will start using the AMBER Alert System, which will allow the Police to inform and involve the general public regarding missing children.

Using means such as television, radio, adverts on public transport, pop-ups on websites, short messaging system (sms) and mobile apps among others, the public will be in a better position to help the Police locate missing children.

Malta will be the fourth country to introduce this platform, which is provided by AMBER Alert Europe.

This was announced by Minister for Home and National Security Carmelo Abela, during a courtesy visit by the President of AMBER Alert Europe Frank Hoen and the Network Coordinator of the AMBER Alert Europe for the Police, Charlie Hedges.

On behalf of the Malta Police Force, Superintendent in charge of the Vice squad Mr Dennis Theuma and Superintendent in charge of the Head Quarters Mr Kenneth Haber were present for this event.
