The bicentenary year of the birth of St. John Bosco is being concluded shortly. On this occasion, the Don Bosco Oratory of Gozo will be inaugurating a new Don Bosco monument, which will be placed in front of the Oratory Chapel facing the football ground.
The monument, the work of Gozitan artist John Grima, is a replica in fibre of the bronze monument inaugurated in Turin last May, with the aim of commemorating two Gozitan priests, Fr. Joe Galea and Fr. Joshua Muscat, who inspired by Don Bosco, devoted themselves to children and youth in Turin itself.
The monument is now being installed in Gozo, thanks to the Committee which was established some years back to commemorate these two priests.
The Gozo monument is also intended to commemorate those priests who, inspired by Don Bosco and his preventive system, worked and are still working with both children and youth in Gozo.
The inauguration will be taking place as part of the events to mark the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Oratory chapel in Victoria.
The inauguration ceremony is this Sunday, the 22nd of November. Bishop Mario Grech will lead a Mass at the Oratory Chapel at 10.30am and will later inaugurate and bless the monument.
Everyone is warmly invited to attend.
