As part of the programme of talks 'Government Listening,' the Ministry for Gozo held an information session for students on the project being carried out by the Ministry on the restoration and rehabilitation of the Citadel.
This project is co-financed by the European Union at an estimated cost of €14 million.
The Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo also attended the session, where officials from the Ministry, who are in charge of this project explained the work being undertaken in various parts of the Citadel.
They talked to the students about the important archaeological discoveries that were made during the course of work, resulting in changes being made to parts of the project from those originally planned.
This was done to ensure that the archaeological discoveries were preserved and protected, while also serving as additional attractions at the Citadel.
The Minister explained that a project of this quality is for the enjoyment for everyone in Gozo, since the Citadel is one of the main destinations on the island, attracting thousands of tourists daily.
"This project will add further value to the Citadel as a potential tourist and cultural site and will serve for the promotion of Gozo as a quality tourist destination," said Dr Refalo.
