President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca has this weekend launched l-Istrina in Gozo 2015, with events being held for the second year in Gozo.

Istrina in Gozo will be held over 3 days, on the 12th, 19th and 20th of December, when the President, together with Mr Preca will visit Victoria and all villages in Gozo, joining in the festive spirit helping to raise funds for Istrina 2015

The President explained that Istrina is being held once again in Gozo to give visibility to the contribution that Gozo always gave to the Malta Community Chest Fund. The President explained that the MCCF is the depth of generosity of the Maltese and Gozitans.

She explained that the Malta Community Chest Fund is different from other NGOs, because it receives no subsidies from the Government, but operates entirely at the generosity of the Maltese and Gozitan people.

The President augured that the Istrina Gozo programme would once again be a wonderful experience where village localities in Gozo create an atmosphere of solidarity between them.

Present for the launch were the Bishop of Gozo, Mgr Mario Grech, the Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo, Parliamentary Secretary for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Active Ageing Dr Justyne Caruana and the Opposition Spokesperson for Gozo Dr Chris Said.

They all augured well for this year's campaign and encouraged the Gozitan community to come together and take part in the events.
